| pt_BR |

dc.description.resumo_abstract | Herpes Zoster (HZ) is described as an infection related to the reactivation of the varicella zoster virus (VZV), which is self-limiting and affects the dermatomes of the sensory nerves, triggering unilateral maculopapular and vesicular skin lesions that do not cross the midline, in addition to painful symptoms. Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT), due to its antimicrobial and healing properties, is an alternative for the treatment of these lesions. The objective of this report of 2 cases was to describe the clinical results obtained from Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) used as adjuvant treatment in lesions on the palate of two patients with Herpes Zoster. An aPDT protocol was performed using red light from a low-intensity laser associated with the photosensitizer methylene blue in the lesion areas, applied for 5 minutes, and prescription of an antiviral. Complete remission of the lesion was observed after 14 days, with total repair of the affected area and a reduction in painful symptoms. aPDT proved to be a safe and effective adjuvant alternative, capable of promoting antimicrobial action against viral lesions and aiding in the healing of lesions and reducing painful symptoms associated with HZ. | pt_BR |
