| dc.description.abstract | O carcinoma de células escamosas representa uma neoplasia maligna de origem epitelial que acomete, com frequência significativa, a cavidade oral. Trata-se de uma lesão agressiva, cujo tratamento é, em geral, complexo e delicado, estando frequentemente associado a prognósticos desfavoráveis, especialmente quando o diagnóstico é realizado em estágios avançados da doença. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar os marcadores salivares que apresentem resultados concretos e promissores no diagnóstico precoce do carcinoma de células escamosas. Foram realizadas buscas na base de dados PubMed, utilizando os descritores "saliva", " Biomarkers" e "Squamous Cell Carcinoma", combinados pelo operador booleano “AND”, resultando na identificação de 27 artigos científicos. Após a aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão previamente estabelecidos, foram selecionados dez estudos para compor o corpus da análise. Os resultados evidenciaram uma gama de evidências existentes a respeito de diversos biomarcadores salivares e sua precisão no diagnóstico precoce do carcinoma espinocelular oral. Destacaram o potencial destes biomarcadores como ferramentas não invasivas, acessíveis e promissoras para auxiliar na triagem, monitoramento e prognóstico da doença, contribuindo significativamente para a melhoria dos desfechos clínicos dos pacientes. Conclui-se que os biomarcadores salivares representam uma alternativa diagnóstica inovadora e eficaz, com potencial para integrar protocolos clínicos voltados à detecção precoce do carcinoma de células escamosas oral, podendo complementar os métodos diagnósticos convencionais e contribuir para uma abordagem mais precisa e personalizada no manejo da doença, além de reforçar a importância da incorporação de estratégias baseadas em evidências científicas na prática odontológica contemporânea. | pt_BR |

| dc.description.resumo_abstract | Squamous cell carcinoma represents a malignant neoplasm of epithelial origin that frequently affects the oral cavity. It is an aggressive lesion, whose treatment is generally complex and delicate, and is often associated with unfavorable prognoses, especially when diagnosis occurs at advanced stages of the disease. This study aimed to evaluate salivary biomarkers that demonstrate concrete and promising results in the early diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma. To this end, searches were conducted in the PubMed database using the descriptors "saliva," "biomarkers," and "squamous cell carcinoma," combined with the Boolean operator "AND," resulting in the identification of 27 scientific articles. After applying the previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 studies were selected to comprise the corpus of analysis. The results revealed a range of existing evidence regarding various salivary biomarkers and their accuracy in the early diagnosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Furthermore, the findings highlighted the potential of these biomarkers as non-invasive, accessible, and promising tools to assist in screening, monitoring, and prognosis of the disease, significantly contributing to the improvement of clinical outcomes for patients. It is concluded that salivary biomarkers represent an innovative and effective diagnostic alternative, with the potential to be incorporated into clinical protocols aimed at the early detection of oral squamous cell carcinoma, complementing conventional diagnostic methods and contributing to a more precise and personalized approach to disease management, as well as reinforcing the importance of incorporating evidence-based strategies into contemporary dental practice. | pt_BR |
