Comparative Analysis of Quality of Life Between Patients with Cleft Lip and Palate and Their Caregivers in the Context of Multidisciplinary Treatment: A Literature Reviewpt_BR
dc.description.resumo_abstractCleft lip and palate are congenital craniofacial malformations characterized by discontinuity of the structures of the lip and/or palate, and may compromise essential functions such as speech, chewing, breathing, and facial aesthetics. These anomalies have a multifactorial etiology, as they involve genetic and environmental factors and have a significant impact on patients’ quality of life, requiring multidisciplinary follow-up from childhood. Treatment involves surgical interventions, such as palatoplasty, in addition to monitoring by different health specialties, aiming at the functional and psychosocial rehabilitation of the individual. Thus, the present study aims to discuss, through a literature review, the impacts of multidisciplinary treatment on the quality of life of these patients, as well as to understand the perception of caregivers regarding the care received, contributing to the improvement of therapeutic strategies and comprehensive care for patients with cleft lip and palate. For the theoretical basis of this study, a bibliographic review was carried out based on the descriptors cleft palate, study and quality, using the Boolean term AND. The search was conducted in literary collections and databases, PUBMED and SCIELO, delimited to a ten-year time frame, from January 2016 to May 2026. Manuscripts in Portuguese and English were considered. After careful analysis of titles and abstracts, 12 articles were selected that showed direct adherence to the proposed theme, excluding those that were incomplete or diverged from the theme, and removing those that were duplicates. As results, similarities were noted regarding the aspects that point toward improving the quality of life of patients submitted to different surgical approaches. It was concluded that there is a need to expand research on the subject addressed together with caregivers, on how to conduct treatment in a favorable manner and maintain the surgical sequence respected, as a means of healthy development for patients with cleft conditions, being integrated into society without differences or difficulties.pt_BR
