E OF THE FACE-Q INSTRUMENT IN THE EVALUATION OF RESULTS AND PSYCHOSOCIAL IMPACT OF OROFACIAL HARMONIZATION PROCEDURES: A LITERATURE REVIEWpt_BR
dc.description.resumo_abstractThe search for instruments capable of assessing the aesthetic and psychosocial impact of orofacial harmonization procedures has grown significantly in contemporary dentistry. Among them, the FACE-Q questionnaire stands out for measuring patient satisfaction, well-being, and self-perception in a standardized and validated manner. This study aimed to describe the application of FACE-Q as an assessment tool for aesthetic and psychosocial outcomes in minimally invasive orofacial harmonization procedures. A literature review was conducted in the PubMed/MEDLINE databases, without restrictions on language or date, including studies up to August 2025. Clinical trials that applied FACE-Q in clinical interventions were included, excluding reconstructive studies and other reviews. A total of 34 studies were selected for this review, showing that the study samples consisted predominantly of adult women aged between 18 and 84 years. The most investigated procedures included the use of hyaluronic acid in different facial regions, botulinum toxin, and combined therapies, all showing significant improvement in Satisfaction with Facial Appearance, Psychological Well-Being, and Social Confidence scores. The FACE-Q demonstrated sensitivity in detecting improvements in aesthetic satisfaction, self-esteem, and quality of life, with effects maintained for up to 18 months. FACE-Q showed consistent applicability and complementary value to clinical analyses, allowing the measurement of the psychosocial impact of facial harmonization. However, methodological discrepancies and lack of standardization highlight the need for uniform protocols and multicenter studies to consolidate its use in clinical and scientific practice.pt_BR
