dc.description.resumo_abstractThe promotion of health should not be restricted only to the resolution of diseases or any other organic disorder, but rather, to highlight measures aimed at increasing health and well-being as a whole. In this context, the school is conceived as a space in which Health in Education is propitious, in which the importance of the educator must be taken into account, because he/she acts directly and daily with the students. Moreover, it is observed the need to address issues related to the Contemporary Cross-Cutting Theme Health in Basic Education (TCT), approved by the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), considering that the school is a suitable environment to develop health pedagogical practices. Thus, the present study sought to answer: How can the initial training of teachers through a textbook on prevention and health care actions contribute to teacher training? The general objective of this study was to analyze the contributions of a didactic manual about preventive actions and health care in the initial formation of teachers. The methodology adopted was exploratory descriptive, with a qualitative approach, of an applied nature, using action research principles. Data analysis considered the participants' understanding of the concepts of health and education, the teaching and learning strategies developed in the minicourse, as well as the readings of the educational manual, identifying its contribution to health promotion at school. Students of a Pedagogy course from a public university in Ceará participated in the minicourse both in person and online. For the elaboration of the manual, as well as in the application of the manual, five professionals from the areas of nutrition, dentistry, psychology, nursing, physical education, and pedagogy contributed by offering specific information from each health area. Data analysis occurred in all stages of the research, using the content analysis method of Bardin (2011). The records (audios, images, observations) were organized in periods highlighted by the researcher, separated and categorized in order to describe and punctuate actions developed in the research that helped in data analysis. The analysis categories are units that help in the interpretation and understanding of the data. The results show that the participants were from different semesters and all were concerned about having a good diet and healthy hygiene habits. Despite this, they did not lack better health-related information. They also informed that it is necessary to integrate healthy practices in the family, school, and community environment is fundamental in the individual's life, aiming at promotion and prevention. Therefore, we conclude that the use of pedagogical practices aimed at health in the school environment also requires interest from the school manager to welcome and insert actions proposed for the implementation of topics related to education and health. The study is relevant, since it made it possible to think about pedagogical strategies, by means of a didactic manual, using it in initial training, to promote actions aimed at prevention and health care in the school context, contributing to the teaching and learning process, whose approach includes topics related to food and nutrition education, oral and mental health, body hygiene, body practices, and digital educational resources.pt_BR
