Description: Caries is a public health problem that affects a large part of the world's children. Educational strategies are recommended as a way to prevent this disease. The use of technology applied to health education received a strong incentive with mobile apps. The objectives of this study were to develop an oral health education mobile game, to test its usability with preschool children and to verify the statistical correlation between the sociodemographic profile of the sample and the results of the usability test. The study included 43 students from a kindergarden school of Fortaleza's municipal school system, aged between 3 and 6 years, divided into three groups (3, 4 and 5 years old). The "1,2,3...Brush!" app was developed for Android™ and iOS™ mobile platforms. The app contains two parts: Story Menu and Game Menu. The game covered topics such as dental caries, healthy diet and cariogenic diet, oral hygiene, relationship between deciduous and permanent teeth and habits related to occlusion problems. The usability test was performed at the school, through the test method with observational technique. The measurement instrument applied was the User Success Rate. Satisfaction was assessed through interviews. In the tests of total effectiveness, the success rates of the Story and Game Menus were, respectively, 97.6% and 85.3% (p<0.001). In the tests of total efficiency, the Story Menu and the Game Menu obtained success rates of respectively 80.2% and 82.1% (p<0.0001). Satisfaction evaluation was very positive (99.7% approval). Regarding performance by age group, children in the 3-years old group demonstrated a greater need for navigability aid during the use of the app. The “Take the healthy food to the mouth” screen got difficult to use due to lack of knowledge of healthy foods (p<0.001). The “1,2,3...Brush!” app was successful in the usability tests for pre-school children in the three evaluated aspects (effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction). The results obtained in the usability tests did not present a statistical correlation with the sociodemographic profile of the sample. However, strengthening on diet for children, parents and caregivers is necessary.
